Phil Healy dominated the voting to become the European Athlete of the Month for January, 2018.

 

Phil is only the second Irish female athlete to be the recipient of such a coveted award. The other Irish athlete being Fionnuala Britton-McCormack for her cross-country achievements.

 

Phil now joins such other elite athletes as Jessica Ennis-Hill (Olympic & World Champion in Heptathlon), Blanka Vlasic (World Champion in High Jump), Dafne Schippers (World Champion in 200 meters) and Yelena Isinbayeva (Olympic & World Champion in the Pole Vault).

 

A week after winning the Indoor 400 meters in Vienna with a life time best of 52.08 seconds, Phil beat Natasha Hastings, a double Olympic Gold Medallist,  in Karlsruhe.
