Sanchez To Test Robert Heffernan in Cork

Top ranked Mexican walker Eder Sanchez, who narrowly missed out of the medals by finishing 4th.at the last World Championships in Osaka is a confirmed starter for the upcoming 58th.Cork City Sports on July 4.

The Mexican presently preparing in Spain for this year's World Championships to be staged in Berlin in August will provide the sternest of tests over 3000m. for Cork's own Robert Heffernan who will attemping to break his own national record for the distance at the Mardyke.

The Togher man, an outstanding 8th. in the Beijing Olympics, will be making his Cork City Sports debut as he was injured on the only previous occasion in 2003 that a walk formed part of the athletic programme.

Heffernan will be joined by fellow Olympians, Jamie Costin, Colm Griffin and the outstanding young talent from the North, Paul Fitzpatrick who made the top twenty in last year's World Junior Championships.
