World Champion & local hero Robert Heffernan plans to give his home crowd a treat. In his first race on home soil since winning the 50K walk at the World Championships in Moscow last August, Heffernan targets the World Masters 3K race walk record, which he set at last years Cork City Sports meet.

Heffernan will have strong competition from Eder Sanchez (Mexico) and Dane Bird-Smith (Austrialia) , however he loves competing in front of his home crowd and hopes that local support will spur him to victory and a possible world record.
