USA athlete Paralympic T44 World record holder Richard Browne is set to compete in the 200m at Cork City Sports on July 7th. Browne lost one leg in 2009 due to an accident and now competes in the T44 class.
In 2013 Browne became the first T44 sprinter in history to compete in a world class able body field when he ran at the 2013 Millrose Games in New York, NY. He subsequently broke the T44 100m world record with a time of 10.75 in the 2013 Paralympic Anniversary Games in London. It is he stayed ambition to achieve the qualifying standard for the Rio Olympics, his run at Cork City Sports is part of this preparation.
Running against Browne will be fellow USA athlete Curtis Mitchell, bronze medalist at the world championships Mitchell is a sub 20 second 200m runner. Also confirmed in the field are Maurice Mitchell (USA), Prezel Hardy Jr. (USA), Rondell Sorrillo (Trinidad & Tobago) & Jermaine Brown (Jamaica)
Local interest will be focused on Ireland’s Brian Gregan who is sure to run a fast race in world class company.
