Emma Murphy of St. Finbarrs Athletic Club is the Cork City Sports athlete of the month for September. Emma was the clear winner of the 35th Evening Echo Women’s Mini Marathon in a time of 22:03 which was held on the streets of cork 25th September.
The first Cork Women’s Mini Marathon took place in 1981. The event is Munster’s premier 4-mile road race, has grown to become one of the biggest sporting participation events outside Dublin and succeeds in attracting women of all ages and abilities. The Evening Echo have been title sponsors since the inception of the race, and its role is to assist with administration, advertise and promote the event.
The awards was presented in The River Lee and was attended by award sponsors: Elaine Fitzgerald, Marketing Manager Cork 96FM C103, Mary O’Brien, The River Lee and Eamonn Murphy The Evening Echo.
