Darragh McElhinney (Bantry AC) is the Cork City Sports athletic person for the month of May. On the 25th May Darragh set a new national 5000m record of 13:54.10 at the Flanders Cup in Belgium. Earlier in the month he also set a new Munster schools senior boys 1500m record of 3:49.42 in very blustery conditions.

This is Darragh’s fourth Cork City Sports Athlete of the Month award, having previously won in March 2015, July 2016, and again in November 2018.
