Fionnuala Britton to run in Cork
Double European Cross Country champion Fionnuala Britton is a confirmed starter for the 3000m at the Cork showpiece next month. The Co. Wicklow star will use the Cork race as an important part of her build up for the World Championships in Moscow later in the season.
The European Indoor bronze medallist at the distance will be challenged by the holder, Olympian Kim Conley, from the USA, and her teammates Jamie Cheever and Julie Culley, Hiwot Gebrekidan of Ethiopia, silver medallist at last year’s World Junior Championships. Lizzie Lee (Leevale) will be looking for new pb figures and two interesting starters will be Kinsale native Sarah Collins who has broken a host of national junior records this year and American Joanna Murphy who has Cork connections.
