Over the years spectators have been fascinated by international pole vaulters clearing great heights at the Cork City Sports. Olympic silver medallist Toby Stevenson won in Cork in 2003 and the Meeting record is held by another Olympic medallist the great Russian vaulter Denis Petushinskiy who scaled 5.70m in1992.
This year Kashikstan champion, Nikita Filippov and Britain’s no.2.vaulter, Luke Cutts, have both cleared 5.60m and with other English competitors such as Matt Devereaux, Gregor McLean, Rhys Searles confirmed starters an exciting competition is guaranteed.
Ian Rogers, Thomas Houihan and Peter O’Brien will provide the home challenge in this event.
