Nineteen year old Cork runner Sarah Collins continued her record breaking exploits by setting a new Irish Junior record over 10000m with a time of 33 mins 33.36 sec. in winning the Big East Championships at Villanova last weekend and breaking a record which has stood since 1988. Her time also qualifies Sarah for this event at the forthcoming World Junior Championships to be held in Oregon towards the end of July.
The Providence College student has already qualified for the 5000m by setting a new European Junior record of 15:41.00 for the distance in Boston last January.
Sarah Collins will be competing in the 3000m at the 63rd Cork City Sports on Tuesday 8th July.
