At an award ceremony in The River Lee Hotel, Bantry athlete Darragh McElhinney was presented the Cork City Sports athlete of the month award for March.

In March Darragh, representing Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí won the Junior Boys All Ireland schools cross country title at Clongowes Wood College on the 7th March and two weeks later he followed this up with a tremendous gun to tape victory in the Schools International held at Santry Demesne. Darragh was the only Irish winner on the day.
