The Cork City Sports Athlete for the month of March is Emma Coffey of Carraig-na-bhFear AC.

At the Irish juvenile indoor track and field championships Emma vaulted a height of 3.25m to win the Girls Under 17 pole vault competition. This was the culmination of a very impressive indoor season for Emma at her specialist event. Emma is the first pole vaulter  to receive an athlete of the month award.

CCS Chairman stated ‘we are delighted to have a pole vaulter win the athlete of the month award, this demonstrates the strength and depth in all athletics disciplines in Cork athletics. We wish Emma every success and we are sure that she will go on to great heights.’
