At a recent awards ceremony in the River Hotel Leevale athlete Lizzie Lee was awarded the Cork City Sports Athletes of the month for September. During September Lee won the Cork Mini-Marathon, before travelling to Germany to compete in the Berlin marathon, where she finished in 9th place and was third European athlete home. Lizzie knocked over 8 minutes off her PB to post a time of 2:38:09.

This has been a great season Lee, which started as a member of the gold winning Irish Women’s team at the European Cross Country Championships earlier in the year and last Sunday she won her fifth consecutive Senior Women’s  County Cross Country title.  There is more to come this season, we are sure.
