April Athlete of the Month: Gabriella Bowen

Cork City Sports is delighted to announce Gabriella Bowen of MTU as the recipient of the April Athlete of the Month Award following a superb performance at the Irish Universities Championships.

Competing on home soil at the MTU Athletics Track, Gabriella produced a dramatic and memorable victory in the women's long jump competition. Facing intense competition and needing a big performance in the final round, she delivered when it mattered most, producing a lifetime best leap of 5.80 metres to snatch victory and claim maximum points for her university.

The significance of Gabriella's performance extended beyond individual success. Her winning jump played a crucial role in helping the MTU women's team secure an outstanding fourth-place finish overall, the highest-ever placing achieved by the university in the female team standings at the Irish Universities Championships.

Gabriella's ability to rise to the occasion under pressure and produce a personal best in the final round demonstrated both her talent and competitive spirit. Her achievement was one of the standout performances of the championships and a fitting reward for her dedication and hard work throughout the season.
