February Athlete of the Month: Maeve O'Neill

Cork City Sports is delighted to announce Maeve O'Neill of Doheny Athletic Club as the recipient of the February Athlete of the Month Award following a remarkable breakthrough performance on the international stage.

Competing at the prestigious Battle of Boston meeting in the United States, Maeve produced the race of her life to set a new Irish Women's Indoor 800m Record of 2:00.33. The outstanding performance saw her lower the previous national mark and firmly establish herself among Ireland's leading middle-distance athletes.

As well as rewriting the record books, Maeve's time secured qualification for the World Athletics Indoor Championships, a significant milestone in her athletic career and a reward for years of dedication and hard work.

Maeve's achievement has brought great pride to her club, her family, and Irish athletics, while also providing inspiration to young athletes across the country. Breaking a national record is a rare accomplishment, and to do so on the international stage highlights both her talent and determination.
