Cork City Sports is delighted to announce that the Athlete of the Month for May is Caoimhe Flannery of Skibbereen AC, in recognition of her extraordinary achievements in the 1500m steeplechase.
Throughout the month of May, Caoimhe delivered a string of record-breaking performances in her specialist event, setting new benchmarks at South Munster, Munster, and Irish Schools Championships in the Senior Girls 1500m steeplechase—all in quick succession.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Caoimhe improved her time with each outing, showcasing not just consistency but also remarkable progression under pressure. Her season culminated with a dominant victory at the Irish Schools Championships in Tullamore, where she clocked a sensational 4 minutes 56.02 seconds—a performance that firmly stamped her name among the brightest young talents in Irish athletics.
Caoimhe is set to compete in the junior 800m at the Cork City Sports meet next Wednesday, 9th July at MTU arena
