As we review into the first quarter of 2024, it’s time to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our local athletes who have brought honour to Cork City Sports and their respective clubs. We take the opportunity to acknowledge and applaud the remarkable performances of our winners for January, February, and March.
January: Reece Ademola (Leevale AC) Reece Ademola from Leevale AC soared to victory in the National Indoor Under 23 Long Jump Championship with a breathtaking performance. Reece didn’t just win; he dominated, setting a championship best performance with an impressive jump of 7 meters and 17 centimeters. His dedication and skill have truly raised the bar for aspiring athletes across the country.
February: Kotryna Pacerinskaite (Fanahan Mac Sweeney AC) February witnessed another stellar performance, this time from Kotryna Pacerinskaite of Fanahan Mac Sweeney AC. Kotryna showcased her prowess in the National Senior Indoor Weight for Distance Championship, where she not only clinched victory with a throw of 7 meters and 20 centimeters but also excelled in shot put. Her versatility and determination make her a force to be reckoned with in the field events.
March: Nicola Tuthill (Bandon AC) In March, Nicola Tuthill of Bandon AC demonstrated her incredible talent on the international stage. Competing at the European Under 23 Throwing Cup in Portugal, Nicola delivered a stellar performance, securing the silver medal with a superb throw of 67 meters and 12 centimeters. Her achievement not only brings glory to her club but also highlights Cork City’s presence on the global athletics scene.
