Cork City Sports is proud to recognise the outstanding achievements of our monthly award recipients for October, November, and December. These athletes have showcased incredible performances on both national and international stages.
Paul Hartnett made history as one of the youngest athletes ever to win the Cork County Senior Cross Country title. He followed up this achievement with an impressive 5th-place finish in the U23 category at the Irish Cross Country Championships in November. This result earned him a spot on the Irish U23 team for the European Cross Country Championships, where he played a key role in helping Ireland secure a commendable 4th place in the team competition.
Ryan Creech delivered a stellar performance at the Dublin Marathon, finishing as the second Irish athlete across the line. With an impressive time of 2:13:49, he claimed the silver medal at the Irish Championships, which were held in conjunction with the marathon. Earlier in the year, Ryan set a personal best of 2:12:28 at the Seville Marathon, further cementing his status as one of Ireland’s top distance runners.
Niamh Allan defied expectations at the National Senior Cross Country Championships in Fermanagh, securing a surprise silver medal and earning automatic selection for the Irish team at the European Cross Country Championships in Turkey. On December 8th, she delivered the race of her life, charging through the field to finish in an outstanding 11th place—outperforming all her Irish and Great British competitors.
Congratulations to Paul, Ryan, and Niamh on their exceptional performances!
