Juvenile 300m Gala to Open Cork City Sports

The 61st Cork City Sports is shaping up to be one of the best, with many London bound athletes choosing the meet for a final challenge before competing at the Olympics. It is guaranteed to be a great evening for all sports enthusiasts.

Once again Cork City Sports committee have decided to include a juvenile 300m Gala in the programme for the 2012 meet. This previously proved to be a great success providing young athletes with the opportunity to compete at Ireland’s premier international T&F Meet.  This year the event is sponsored by Cork City Sports Partnership and Sonia O Sullivan will be on hand to present medals and certificates to all the competing athletes.

The 300m Gala is open to all U9 – U14 athlete, born between 1999 – 2004, inclusive. Entries will be taken on the day from 5pm and races will start at 5:30pm.

Later in the programme at 7:40pm there will be an opportunity for all the young athletes to participate in a parade with Sonia O’Sullivan, Chef de Mission for Team Ireland at London 2012 Olympics
