On Tuesday the 28th of June, the Cork City Sports International Athletics 65th annual meet will take place at the CIT stadium and track. This year LeisureWorld are proud to sponsor two different events that support their message of openness and inclusiveness.
LeisureWorld have been proud sponsors of the Cork City Sports for a number of year and are very happy to be able to continue and expand this support by sponsoring two separate races this year.
The first of these races is the LeisureWorld Open 3000m, this race is geared for all local athletes that have secured a qualifying time of under 9 minutes, 10 seconds in the past 12 months. This race is open to both men and women alike. The concept behind this race is it gives competitive local athletes a chance to compete in front of a stadium of local supporters at such a well-known and long standing event. This is the second year of the LeisureWorld Open 3000m and the community aspect is of great importance to LeisureWorld’s ethos and efforts to be an active contributor to its local community.
This year for the first time at the Cork City Sports International Athletics annual meet will be the introduction of the LeisureWorld T54 Wheelchair Race. Spectators will get to see some of the top athletes in this division take part in this 400m intense race at the CIT stadium and track. For LeisureWorld the opportunity to sponsor such a race was very welcome.
Christine Moloney, CEO of LeisureWorld, commented “LeisureWorld is always thrilled to be part of such a fantastic event in Cork’s athletics diary! We have a clear message at LeisureWorld, every-body-belongs. This goes for any shape, size or type of person and sponsoring both the Open 3000m and T54 races reflect that message”.
