We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Sophie O’Sullivan, fresh off her sensational win at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, to this year’s Cork City Sports International Athletics Meet.
Racing in Eugene, Oregon, Sophie (University of Washington / Ballymore Cobh A.C.) lit up the track with a dazzling performance in the Women’s 1500m Final, storming to victory in a time of 4:07.94.
With this triumph, Sophie becomes only the fifth Irishwoman in history to win an NCAA Division 1 outdoor title – following in the footsteps of none other than her iconic mother, Sonia O’Sullivan, who claimed the same honour twice. What a legacy!
We can’t wait to see Sophie bring that championship form to the MTU Stadium on Wednesday, July 9th. One thing’s for sure – this is going to be a moment to remember!
