Cork City Sports organizers received a timely boost today when it was confirmed that Olympic Gold winner Mark Lewis-Francis is set to take to his blocks for the much anticipated 100m clash at the CIT Athletic Stadium on Tuesday 8th July.
With 9.95 sec speedster Keymar Hyman from the Cayman Islands already in the lineup the 31 year old Birchfield Harriers, the sole still active survivor of Britain’s famous Olympic Relay triumph over the seemingly unbeatable USA quartet in 2004 ensures that there will be at least two sub 10 second men performing in Cork for the first time.
With Ramon Gittens from Barbados, Rondell Sorrillo (Trinidad & Tobago) and Warren Fraser from Bahamas also declared starters do not blink when the gun is fired!
