Twenty eight year old Dominika Nowakowska from Poland may not have been a household name to Irish athletic followers prior to her runaway success at the CIT Athletic Stadium last week but all that has changed for Nowakowska who is trained by her husband and has a very positive front running attitude to distance running.
She was rewarded with her fourth pb of the year, spread over various distances ranging from 3k to the half-marathon, a magnificent 9 mins 01.56 secs and there is little doubt if pressed over the final lap she would have run well under 9mins. Runner up, Josephine Moultrie from Scotland on a current U.S. university scholarship, third placed Aisha Praught (USA) and fourth finisher Ciara Durkan from Skerries also set lifetime bests, the latter by an amazing twenty seven seconds.
