Women’s 100m Shaping Up To Be A Classic
The outstanding favourite for the 100m will be Barbara Pierre USA, World Indoor Champion with a seasons best of 10.99. However she will not have it all her own way. Crystal Emmanuel, the Canadian number one, who is Olympic and World finalist with a SB time of 11.2 in winning the Canadian national title last weekend will provide credible opposition. Emmanuel will also contest the 200m.
Jodie Williams, one of the UK’s top athletes and European medalist, will be in the hunt for both 100m and 200m titles. Margaret Adeoye, World and European Championship medallist will also contest both events. Phil Healy is in good form and should feature in both races and also Niamh Whelan, Sarah Murray and Sarah Lavin providing the Irish representation in the women’s sprints.
